Idol: Smokey Robinson

When you are looking for the perfect love song Smokey Robinson has all the bases covered. There are love songs like I Second that Emotion which include the lyrics “a lifetime of devotion,” and others about just getting down. There are some about broken hearts, etc.

Smokey Robinson is a Motown artist and a platinum song writer. He wrote the lyrics to the popular Micheal Jackson song “Whose love’in you,” and hits for many other Motown artist’s like Diana Ross.

Smokey is credited for discovering Diana Ross (latterly the girl next door) and Diana is credited for discovering the Jackson 5 (i.e. Micheal Jackson and his brothers).

P.S. I’m getting this information from Ed Sullivan’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Classics.

Yet, Smokey wrote hit songs for himself as well like Tracks of my Tears.
